Rob Paterson

Rob Paterson has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs for over three decades, with a long-standing focus on Golden Retrievers. Breeding under the Conquerer (Perm. Reg) prefix, he has been active as an owner, breeder, and exhibitor, with a particular interest in preserving both the structure and temperament that define the breed.

A member of the Golden Retriever Club of Canada since the mid-1990s, Rob has contributed extensively to the club in a variety of roles. He has served as Newsletter Editor, Ontario Director, and multiple terms as First Vice President. Throughout his involvement, he has focused on governance, communication, and member engagement, helping to modernize how the club communicates with its membership and approaches internal processes.

Rob’s strength lies in communications. In addition to his work within GRCC, he has supported numerous breed clubs across Canada with newsletters, website development, governance guidance, and member communications. His experience in these areas has led to invitations to contribute at the board level for other national breed clubs, where his focus has remained on strengthening communication and supporting effective governance. He is known for his ability to take complex or sensitive issues and present them in a clear, balanced, and professional manner.

He has also been part of the ShowScene team since its inception, contributing written content, editorial support, and promotional material for the weekly publication. Through this work, he has played a role in highlighting the achievements of exhibitors and clubs across the country, while helping to strengthen connections within the Canadian dog community.

Rob has been actively involved with several national breed clubs and continues to contribute to discussions around policy, procedure, and best practices within the sport. His approach is grounded in fairness, transparency, and the belief that strong communication is key to a healthy and sustainable future for purebred dogs in Canada.
