Pauline Hargraves
In Memorium- Pauline Hargraves
December 5, 1933 – April 26, 2012
GRCC Life Member Pauline Hargraves passed away on April 26 in Qualicum Beach, BC. Formerly Pauline Taylor, she was active with the Cedarcroft Goldens with her former husband Clive. After coming through heart surgery in December, 2011, Pauline’s health deteriorated through the spring resulting in pneumonia. Pauline’s husband Ron passed away in July 2009. She is survived by son Craig and wife Halina and their sons Michael and Derick, daughter Cheryl and partner Trevor and their sons Matthew and Ryan, along with her sister Josephine Dickinson, husband Daryl and son Thomas in Ontario.
Many will remember Pauline attending both the 2009 National Specialty in Surrey, BC and the 2010 National Specialty in Stratford, Ontario. She had a wonderful time re-uniting with old friends and remembering times past in the GRCC, especially with her old pal Gert Barks. She loved the history of the GRCC and researched the background on some of our perpetual trophies, publishing historical articles in Golden Leaves. She was on the executive of several interest groups in the Qualicum area during her time there. In letters, emails and in person, she loved recounting the “Perils of Pauline” over her lifetime, including getting lost on the way to Stratford for the National and having the hotel desk clerk talk her in to the hotel site. I will miss her emails and occasional phone calls and I am saddened I did not learn of her passing until recently.
