Allyson Marie Fennell

The GRCC is saddened to learn of Allyson’s passing. Allyson was a past GRCC Board Member and very active in many dog sports with her Goldens. Our thoughts are with Allyson’s family and her many friends during this time.

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Allyson Fennell, fondly known as Chicky, announce her passing on Wednesday, October 9th after a two year battle with cancer. Chicky is survived by her parents, Dale and Mary, sister Kelly (Ian), brother Shawn (Chris) and 5 nieces and nephews, Amanda, Campbell, Kurtis, Mairead and Spencer along with countless friends. She also leaves behind, her pride and joy, four golden retrievers, Aero, Charlie, Beau and Toni.

Chicky was born and raised in White Rock and for the last 25 years resided in Langley.

Growing up Chicky developed a love for horses and she competed in equestrian events throughout her youth. She was an avid athlete who participated in swimming, basketball, hockey, lacrosse and soccer, a sport she played well into adulthood. Chicky was a graduate of White Rock Jr. and Semiahmoo Secondary Schools and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business from BCIT. Chicky worked for the City of Surrey since she was 16 in various capacities from aquatics to arenas within the Parks and Recreation Department.

Her life circled around her dogs and the many friends she made within that community.

Chicky was an established breeder (Riverdance Golden Retrievers), trainer and competitor and was most at home with her canine companions. Buster, Tawny, Shandy, Spirit, Dancer & Fizz are waiting for you Chick and will meet and guide you as you journey home. Chicky left an indelible mark in this world. She will be forever missed but never forgotten and leaves a legacy of memories for all to cherish.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Holmberg House Hospice for their compassionate care during these last 4 months, especially in her final days.  We were more than lucky to have spent additional time with Chicky enjoying the many outings, lunches and social gatherings she would organize.

A funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 20676 Fraser Hwy, Langley. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either Holmberg House Hospice in Abbotsford or the BC Cancer Foundation.
